Kermit si Kodok

Siapa yang tak kenal Kermit si kodok. Tokoh hijau ini tak pernah absen di Sesame Street dan menjadi bintang di The Muppet Show. Si kodok hijau ini adalah seorang(?) legenda.

Kermit diciptakan oleh pemain boneka Jim Henson. Kermit dimainkan oleh Henson sampai kematiannya di tahun 1990. Sejak itu, ia dimainkan oleh Steve Whitmire.

Sebuah versi awal Kermit muncul di 1955, dalam pertunjukan boneka lima menit untuk WRC-TV Sam and Friends. Prototipe Kermit diciptakan dari mantel wanita berwarna hijau yang telah dibuang ibu Henson ke keranjang sampah, dan dua bola pingpong untuk mata. Kermit versi awal ini adalah makhluk mirip kadal. Penampilan Kermit pertama sebagai kodok adalah dalam acara televisi spesial Hey Cinderella pada 1969.

Kermit menjadi terkenal pada1971, ketika ia muncul dalam Sesame Street sebagai pembawa acara warta berita yang mewawancarai karakter-karakter nursery rhyme. Salah satu lagunya yang paling terkenal adalah Bein' Green. Lagu Kermit The Rainbow Connection juga menjadi hit dari The Muppet Movie dan telah menjadi lagu khas The Jim Henson Company.

Kermit memiliki TV Star di Hollywood Walk Fame, tepatnya di 6801 Hollywood Blvd.
